Juliette from the great city of Berlin Germany would like to know what does kcal mean in relation to carrot juice? The term kcal is the scientific acronym for the word kilocalorie, or what we very commonly refer to in the English language as a calorie. A single calorie and a kcal are one in the same unit, and represent the same thing. The precise definition is that a kcal or kilocalorie represents 1000 true calories of energy, or one single food based calorie. How this term relates to carrot juice is obvious now that the term has been fully defined, it's simply another way of saying one food calorie unit. I use the term calorie instead of kcal throughout the website, as it's more widely understood. Every single recipe hosted on our site has a calorie figure. I should state however that in some cases the calorie figures are educated estimates, though we do consult with a nutritionist to get the best possible number. Many thanks to Juliette for emailing us the unique question.
