The term kcal is the scientific acronym for the word kilocalorie, or what we very commonly refer to in the English language as a calorie. A single calorie and a kcal are one in the same unit, and represent the same thing. The precise definition is that a kcal or kilocalorie represents 1000 true calories of energy, or one single food based calorie. How this term relates to carrot juice is obvious now that the term has been fully defined, it's simply another way of saying one food calorie unit. I use the term calorie instead of kcal throughout the website, as it's more widely understood. Every single recipe hosted on our site has a calorie figure.
